Sugar Nellie - Gorgeous Girl

It's Monday already and lucky for me I am still in time to enter the challenge over at the Sugar Bowl Blog. There is a great sketch to follow created by Marlene with an optional extra of using embossing somewhere on your card, oh and not forgetting it has to be a Sugar Nellie image.

For my entry I have used one of the Gorgeous Girls. I have had this image for such a long time and have never inked her up. Shameful, I know. This is probably a good indicator that I have too many craft items that are just not getting used.

My other half has set me a challenge and himself not to buy any craft/hobby items for the next two months. I agreed to this knowing that I have a room overflowing with things to use and being competitive thought I would win this hands down. Unfortunately, I have already failed because I have booked myself on a Copic weekend retreat in March. What's a girl to do, its an entire weekend of learning and crafting right on my doorstep in Oxfordshire. So....I've let him win this one!

Anyway back to the card.

The base card is black paper of which I have embossed and then rubbed over with silver ink to pick up the design. The papers are from Basic Grey Ambrosia. I have used black and orange card punch with a Martha Stewart punch and then covered with orange ribbon and a black satin ribbon crunched up. I found the lovely big button in a drawer. it kind of looks like an extra strong mint. Finally, the three flowers at the top are from Prima and the image was coloured with Prisma Pencils and to add some sparkle I glittered around the edge of the oval shape. I now have some blending tools to use with the pencils so am looking forward to some time using it.

Happy New Year

Hi to All, here's wishing you a Happy New Year. I can't believe how fast the past week has gone and that it is already time for the first challenge of the year over at the Everybody Art Challenge Blog, which is a "New Year" theme. My card has been made using two cute Magnolia images from the latest Stamp Club kit. I have coloured the two Tilda's using my new Prisma Pencils that I received as a Christmas present from my other half. He must love me because he bought me the entire set of colours. How lucky am I? I have used My Minds Eye Christmas paper and an off-cut of Basic Grey Wassail paper, a Martha Stewart punch, ribbon and a couple of star embellishments. I had planned to do lots of crafting during the Christmas break but as usual I didn't get around to it as installing a kitchen and wallpapering the hallway has taken over. Oh well, when the house is finished I can spend all my time crafting! Thanks for looking and I hope you have some time to join the challenge this week. Jenny

LOTV Nativity

Hi to All, I can't believe Christmas is nearly upon us. Luckily I have very little to do this year and was organised enough to buy all my gifts online and in time. It's just as well because like many parts of the country, Oxfordshire has taken a hit with the snow. The weekend was bedlam on the A34 with hours of tailbacks.

This week over at Everybody Art Challenge Blog the theme is "First Snow". I decided to keep this one simple because I wanted to post it easily so there is not much to say about it. I have used a very cute stamp from Lilly of the Valley. I coloured it with Copics and added glitter glue for sparkle, unfortunately the photo is so bad it is difficult to see any sparkle. I am not sure what the paper is (sorry). I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Jenny

As Time Goes By..................

It's Tuesday again and we have a new theme over at the Everybody Art Challenge Blog.

This week the challenge is to make a handmade gift.

I knew exactly what I was going to do having bought a couple of components to make a clock at the NEC craft fair in November and I am really pleased with the outcome.

To make the clock I used the following:

Square chipboard for the base

Brown Bazzill card used to cover the chipboard

Patterned paper from the Ella Blue GCD collection, ripped, inked and distressed

Music paper distressed with ink and edged with gold embossing powder

Brown paper crimped and distressed

To make the swirls and flowers I have used Grunge Paper and two Tim Holtz dies inked with distress inks and stamped with various stamps.

The leaves are a Spellbinders die that have been inked and covered with

Ultra Thick Embossing Crystals.

The numbers are white chipboard coloured with black ink and embossing crystals x 3. I have used the same technique on the word SMILE and coloured with Mica Powder.

Extra flowers have been added purchased from Wild Orchid Crafts, butterflies from my stash, swirl gems and a Tim Holtz button.

Tis the Season to be Jolly

This is a short post to let you know that we have an excellent sketch to follow over at the Everybody Art Challenge Blog. Check out the DT for more beautiful inspiration.

Here is my take on the sketch.

The image is carol singers from LOTV coloured with Copics and stickles glue. It's so cute and very detailed, it did take me a little time to colour but was worth it in the end.

I have used Kraft corrugated card for the base, layered with paper from Basic Greys Eerie, Jovial and Wassail pads. I have distressed the papers using inks and scissors and a little sewing. The punched detail was made using red paper and a Martha Stewart punch. The sentiment is a digital image that I own, edged with stickles glue for sparkle. The flowers are also edged with stickles. Finally I added a pearl gem in each corner.
