Papertake Weekly - To Have and to Hold

Afternoon crafters.

I am back again and this time it's for our sketch challenge over at Papertake Weekly kindly sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

I've used the sketch to make a wedding card but I'm not sure I like it very much. I think I should have used different papers but never mind you live and learn.

The image is a peel off from Little Claire Designs which I've coloured with Copics.

The papers are a mixture of Basic Grey, GCD Ella Blue and JilliBean Soup.

Embellishments - Tulle, lace paper roses, ribbon, metal heart and a sentiment from Little Claire Designs

Papertake Weekly - Bingo Time

Hanglar & Stanglar Wedding Card

This week over at Simon Says Challenge the theme is to make a wedding card for Domi one the the DT members. Luckily for me I am a member of Domi's challenge blog Everybody Art Challenge and I had already made a card to help celebrate the special occasion. I had planned to show it on my blog after 15th May to give Domi and Uli time to receive it but the challenge doesn't go on that long. I'm sure Domi and Uli will not mind me uploading it early. :) I know most wedding cards are made using lovely pastel colours but for some reason pastel doesn't spring to mind when I think of Domi, so I have gone with what I like best which is vibrant. I have chosen red, silver, dark grey and a splash of white. I am also entering my card in the My Time to Craft challenge blog, the theme is Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby To make the card: I have used red bazill card for the base and stitched onto it a silver diamond filigree on white paper. It is a product from ANW Crestwood Paper company. For the strip going down the card, I layered silver pearlescent paper, red bazill card, white linen card edged with Martha Stewart's Doilly punch, white organza ribbon with a silver edge and red printed organza ribbon on top (craftfairy.co.uk) phew that was a lot of layers. The image is from Hanglar & Stanglar stamped on to Bristol Board Extra Smooth 250gsm and layered with red bazill and silver pearlescent paper. To colour the image I have used copics. C1, C3, C5, C7 (greys), R27 & R59 (trouser stripe) for the groom's clothing. For the bride I used R27 & R59 for the sash and tiara and E50, E51 & E43 for the dress. The skin was E000, E00, E11, R20. To add a little interest to the background of the image I added different sized dots using C1. To bring it all together I made what is supposed to be a trailing bouquet using red/orange roses, a couple rose buds, leaves, a silver bow, heart shaped buttons (grey & black), a tag printed off the computer and swirls of thinly cut bazill card. Oh and a string of silver balls (not sure what is is or where I got it from). The two outside corners looked a little bare so I added a couple of graphite coloured pearls. I was really pleased with the finished design and wanted to keep it but had to let it go. It's now on its way to Europe I only hope it travels well! First Dance - Dutch Dare & Stamp Something Challenge

Another Wedding card. This time for a friends daughter. Just one more wedding card to make and then its on to the next batch of birthday cards. I haven't used a sketch from a challenge blog because I couldn't find one that fitted what I wanted to do but I am entering this card into the Dutch Dare Challenge which was to take colour inspiration from a photo and the Stamp Something Challenge which was to use your favourite embellishment. My favourite has to be ribbon but I also like to make my own paper embellishments where I can. After tying the ribbon into a bow I twisted the ends into ringlets and then attached it into place with silicone. I love the dry embossing technique because I can create something reasonably quickly that looks elegant and expensive. I never seem to use it enough on my cards because I always want to try and do something different with each creation. I have used a beautiful stamp from Sugar Nellie called First Dance. It was a dream to colour with my copics. It was so easy I stamped it twice and then layered one on top the other. This is a sign of a good stamp for me because if it takes me too long to colour I can't be bothered to create a copy. To make this card: Card/Paper - 6x6 white square card, Bazzil Bling Chandler, Ice White Stardream paper, Bristol Board Image - Sugar Nellie First Dance Medium - Copics, ColorBox Blue ink for the background and pink for the paper rose Embellishments - Ribbon, White Paper Rose, Hearts, Pearls Dies - Spellbinders Hearts Nesties. Hanglar Wedding Wishes - Basic Grey & Stamp Something

Another project completed and this time I can enter the card into two challenge blogs. Basic Grey, Week 3 Inspiration Challenge have asked for a card to be created taking inspiration from the picture shown above and Stamp Something asked for a card using a favorite stamp and the addition of a punched design. Basic Grey Photo - for me it symbolised elegant, fresh, clean lines with different textures. Stamp Something - not difficult choosing a favorite stamp or adding punched detail to a card. I love this Hanglar & Stanglar image. It's really easy to colour and as I have three wedding cards to make will come in very useful. I am pleased with the card although I did mess it up a little with the sentiment. I had planned to put it at an angle above the image but after sticking everything in place I found it didn't look right. The best place would have been above the image, however this would have only looked good if I had moved everything down. Not an option as I had glued everything in place. So the only place for it was at the bottom. Not perfect but I have learnt from this so won't make the same mistake again. To make this card: Card/Paper - A3 linen card cut down to approx 25 x 16cm Moss Green Dotty Bazzil Card to cover the front Layered with Bazzil Pearlescent Cream Card Top layer, Basic Grey, Chintz 12x12" paper part of the Porcelain range Image Topper - Hanglar & Stanglar Wedding Stamp stamped onto Bristol Board Coloured with Copics Edged with green Ink Layered onto Silver Bazzil Pearlescent Card & Bazzil Pearlescent Cream Card Text - Using my hot Foil Wizard i have written the text using silver foil onto quartz Stardream paper and layered onto silver Bazzil pearlescent card. Embellishments - Graphite Organza Ribbon - Pearl gems Tools - Punch from Craft Habitat I haven't taken a picture of the inside but I used more of the Basic Grey chintz paper to cover the inside and the inked the edge of some white paper and fixed this in place leaving a large border. To finish everything off I made a box and decorated it with a strip of moss green dotty card which had been punched both sides and engraved their names using my Hot Foil Wizard.
