Today I would like to share a wedding card I have made for this weeks challenge over at Everybody Art Challenge.

 

The picture isn't great as I had to take it in the evening. The card definitely looks better in real life.

I decided to move away from my comfort zone of colouring an image to try a clean and simple card. I don't think I managed it too well but it's not bad.

LOTV - A Fairy Thank You

Hello again, its the weekend at last and the sun is shining.

Although I am in the midst of a nasty cold, I have some time and energy to make a card. I do have the usual house chores to do but they can wait a little longer!

I have made a thank you card using a beautiful little fairy from Lily of the Valley, her name is Freedom (ref code S225). This is the first time of inking her up since my other half kindly bought her for me at the Farnborough show in February.

I have used the excellent sketch created by Bev over at the LOTV Thursday Challenge Blog because I would like to enter this card into this weeks challenge.

LOTV are also looking for a Guest Designer chosen by the DT to join them for 4 weeks, so be sure to get your entries in for a chance of being on the DT. Good luck.

I stamped the fairy's wings a second time so that I could decoupage them to add dimension. They were coloured with Copics and then glittered using a Quickie Glue Pen and Stampendous Ultra Fine Crystal Glitter.

You kind of get the idea from this photo.

Faux stitching - White pen (being lazy, couldn't be bothered to get the sewing machine out!)

Dry Embossing - Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls

Finishing touches - Stickles and glitter for lots of sparkle and pearls, gems & brads

LOTV Nativity

Hi to All, I can't believe Christmas is nearly upon us. Luckily I have very little to do this year and was organised enough to buy all my gifts online and in time. It's just as well because like many parts of the country, Oxfordshire has taken a hit with the snow. The weekend was bedlam on the A34 with hours of tailbacks.

This week over at Everybody Art Challenge Blog the theme is "First Snow". I decided to keep this one simple because I wanted to post it easily so there is not much to say about it. I have used a very cute stamp from Lilly of the Valley. I coloured it with Copics and added glitter glue for sparkle, unfortunately the photo is so bad it is difficult to see any sparkle. I am not sure what the paper is (sorry). I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Jenny

Fun in the Snow - Everybody Art Challenge No.73

This week over at Everybody Art Challenge the theme is snow. I for one would like the weather to change, as trying to manage a team of people and ensure they stay safe but get the job done is becoming an increasing headache. Unfortunately forensic pathology waits for no one and so closing a department for days on end is not an option. On top of that the nasty cold I mentioned at the beginning of the year has come back with avengence. The sore throat is so bad its difficult to swallow and is not helped by the dry tickly cough. The pounding headache makes it difficult to concentrate and the aches and changing temperature makes me want to curl up and hibernate. Some days are better than others and its on these days that I try to work on my card designs. I have kept this design quick and simple. I know lots of people are having fun in the snow so found a lovely digital stamp created by Mo Manning called Toboggan . You can purchase this design at Digital Pencil Too. To make the card I have embossed the background using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots. I cut the shape using my Spellbinders largest label Nestabilities and then embossed it with the Spellbinders Snowflake Impressabilities. A blue ink pad was used to pick up the design. I coloured the image using Copics and then cut it out, shaped the edges and used foam pads to lift it off the page. The snow at the bottom of the page was made by ripping strips of white paper, layering them up and using wet glue to stick glitter on to it. I have gone mad with the stickles glue using it to edge the card and put a little bling on the image. Its not easy to see but I have also covered some of the dots to make it look like snow falling. Finally I have tied some organza ribbon around the spine and attached a sentiment using a holographic sticker. Copics used for the clothes were YG11, YG23, YG63, B00, B02, B05, RV02, RV06, C1, C3, C5 I apologise for not leaving comments on your blogs for all the lovely artwork you create but am hoping this will change over the next week or so. Paris Socialite - Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend - MMSC#20, Stamp Something, Copic Colour #32 & Basic Grey #4

I can't believe it. I won last weeks challenge over at Dutch Dare and will be the proud owner of a stamp named "Happy Maya" , donated by La La Land Crafts. I've never won anything, so it made my day last Thursday when I clicked on the blog to see what the next challenge would be for the coming fortnight and there was my name. Thank you to the design team for choosing my card. Last Saturday I took some time out to enter into the Stampers United blog hop and I'm glad I did. some blogs I am a regular visitor to but there were others that until Saturday I had never come across. The level of peoples art work never ceases to amaze me or the amount of time the team must have taken ensuring the blog hop would happen. Back to this weeks creation, I have made a card using a fab stamp that my other half surprised me with after he took a trip to hobbycraft. It's called "Paris Socialite" by Stamps Happen. How lucky am I? He never comments on the 100s of pounds I spend on crafting goodies and gadgets, usually accompanies me to craft shows and even spends his money buying must have items. It probably has something to do with all the money he spends on his own hobbies! Anyway, whilst blog hopping I came across a new challenge blog "Priscillastyles: Midnight Madness" and it's their sketch I have used to create my design. I liked the sketch so much I will use it again and I am also going to enter the card into the Stamp Something Challenge for this week which is to use your favourite sketch. For the first time ever I am going to enter this weeks challenge over at the Copic Colour Challenge blog. The colour combination is V06, B23 & BG23. The main colour used on my card is V06, not a colour I would normally choose so quite a challenge. I used BG23 on the ribbon. I have also entered this into the Basic Grey Challenge this week as I have included Embossing on my card. I am pleased with the effect and will definitely use the stamp again with a completely different colour scheme. To make the card I have used: Card/Paper - Linen card stock 15x16cm, Purple Bazzil, Basic Grey Euphoria Stamp - Paris Socialite, Stamps Happen Medium - Copics, V06, V04, V000, 100, E00, E21, E51, R00, C3, C5 Distress Ink, Dusty Concord for the background and the edge of the BG papers Cosmic Shimmer Mica Pewter Grey, Stickles for the bling, White Gelly Roll Pen and Silver Pen Embossing/Dies - Cuttle Bug Textile folder, Spellbinder Oval Nestabilities Embellishments - Silver Buckle coloured with Stickles, Square Gems, White ribbon coloured and doodled on. Thinking of You - Truly Scrumptious Challenge

I have created this Thinking of You card instead of a With Sympathy as it has to be posted to Australia and by the time it gets there the funeral will have taken place. I used the sketch created by Sharon over at Truly Scrumptious which had an added twist of using the colour scheme black, white and one other colour. This was a real challenge for me as I never make cards using black and white. So, I finished it late last night and was too tired to upload to my blog and link it to the challenge and now I have just realised I'm too late. It had to be uploaded before 5pm this evening. It's a shame because the design team over at Scrumptious always take the time to look at your design and leave a comment, which is very much appreciated. Oh well, I will have to get my skates on for the next challenge out tomorrow!
